The city of Billings is considered to be the largest city in the state of Montana. The location of the city is ideal for summer vacations since it is considerably close to Yellowstone National Park and Pompey’s Pillar. The city was nicknamed the “Magic City” due to its rapid growth during 1882 when the city was founded as a railroad town. The city has continued to grow ever since then and now has an estimated population of 101,876. Recently, the city was ranked as the 3rd best place in the U.S. to raise a family by BestLife Magazine.

The city of Billings seems to have almost opposite weather for different seasons. During the summer temperature can reach up to 100 °F while during the winter temperature may fall below zero. There is an average snowfall of 57 inches a year but due to winds that pass through the region the snow usually will not accumulate.

An interesting attraction that can be found in Billings is the Yellowstone Art Museum. The museum is considered to be the largest within the region and has been expanded multiple times in the past. What once used to be the old Yellowstone country prison is now an amazing art museum with several exhibits. The museum holds some of Montana’s finest collection of contemporary regional art. Today, there are over 3,000 artifacts in collections within the Yellowstone Art Museum.

Another main attraction in Billings is the Zoo Montana. The wildlife park is Montana’s only zoo and botanical Park. This 70 acre facility hosts animals native to the Rockies and non-native animals from around the world. Most of the non-native animals are from Asia and Europe. Some examples of native and non-native animals would include the Siberian Tiger, Bighorn Sheep, Red Pandas, Wolverines, Waterfowls, and Grizzly Bears.
