Park City was originally founded as a mining town and is now considered to be one of the two major resort towns in Utah. The population for the town, according to the 2000 census, was 7,371. The town’s population is greatly exceeded by the number of tourist visiting during the year. The town may make you feel like you're hundreds of miles from the civilized world yet there are numerous opportunities for fun and entertainment.
Park City is known for its cool temperatures and snow activity. The town receives an estimate of 127 inches of snowfall throughout the year. The month of July is the warmest month with temperatures in the high 60s. If snow fun and cold temperatures is what you are looking for, January would be the best month to visit Park City since the average temperature is a low 12 degrees.

Park City offers the maximum in snow excitement and thrills. There are numerous winter activities for all ages. Some of the activities include snowboarding, skiing, sleigh rides, ice skating, snowmobiling, and snow tubing. The three main ski resorts in Park City are the Park City Mountain Resort, Deer Valley Resort, and The Canyons Resort.
Park City also offers art and cultural activities. The Kimball Art Center is a venue that provides visual arts in an intimate setting. The center produces exciting activities and art exhibits for all art lovers. The Kimball Art Center also provides the community with educational programs and hosts a number of art events year long.

In Park City there are 74 properties where the environmentally friendliness is unknown and they have not yet verified their sustainability efforts with iStayGreen.org. In the state of Utah there is a total of 435 lodging properties listed in the iStayGreen.org directory of which 13 are represented as eco-friendly. Currently there are 10 lodging properties that have earned the Green Eco-Leaf Rating.
