Plano Texas - The Star in Texas
The city of Plano is located in the northern area of Texas and is part of the Collin Country. Plano city has several headquarters of top companies, making it a popular destination for business travelers. According to the 2008 census, the city has an estimated population of 267,480. The city is considered to be the seventieth most populated city in the United States. Forbes.com named the city of Plano to be one of “Top Suburbs To Live Well”.
Plano is considered to have a humid and subtropical weather. Summers are mostly pretty warm with temperatures in the high 80’s and low 90’s. July is the hottest month of the year with average temperatures in the low 90’s. Winters are generally mild with average temperatures in between the low 50’s and low 60’s. January is the coolest moth of the year with average temperatures in the low 50’s.
Art Center of Plano and Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, TX
A very interesting place to visit in Plano is the Art Center of Plano. They provide numerous recourses to the community and visitors. The center also has several educational, performing arts, and visual arts for all ages. Over the last 25 years, the center has had over 250 exhibitions, hosted over 212 art openings, and welcomed over 345,800 visitors. The center also offers a variety of classes including a clay sculpture class, drawing, mosaic, 2D and 3D design workshops, and photography.
One of the most relaxing spots in Plano is the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. The park is located on the western boarder of the city. The preserve covers an area of about 200 acres. Visitors have a variety of trails to walk, jog, hike, or ride their bike on. The park also has a large playground for little ones to enjoy. The park also host several events throughout the year such as the Family Campout, Fun Run, and evening concerts.

In Plano there are 32 properties where the environmentally friendliness is unknown and they have not yet verified their sustainability efforts with iStayGreen.org. In the state of Texas there is a total of 2850 lodging properties listed in the iStayGreen.org directory of which 43 are represented as eco-friendly. Currently there are 18 lodging properties that have earned the Green Eco-Leaf Rating.
