The city of Wilmington is the county seat of the New Hanover County. The city was also settled on the Cape Fear River and is just minutes away from beaches. One of the main festivals in Wilmington is the North Carolina Azalea Festival. The festival takes place over a five day period. The festival celebrates local art, the magnificent gardens in the city, and the history of Wilmington. The festival has over 300,000 visitors. The festival also provides scholarships for local students and raises approximately $28,000 each year for scholarship funding.
