    To qualify for the Green Eco-Leaf Rating La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club completed an audit of their property's compliance with over 70 unique eco-initiatives. Environmentally friendly measures that are reviewed include energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, enviromentally safe cleaning, reduction of waste, ongoing maintenance, purchasing habits, plus many other factors. In it's efforts to create a more sustainable travel future and reduce their impact on our environment, La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club employs 43 eco-initiatives.

    We continue to look for new ways to become more eco friendly.

    Current initiatives include:

    La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club: *Hotel guest have the option of getting towels and linens changed daily or re-using them. Linens only get changed every second day for stay-overs. Separate in room trash and recycle bins *Recycling bins on the esplanade and public areas *BBQ setups include a regular and a recycle trash bag *“Green formulated” housekeeping cleaning products which are 100 % biodegradable.( Natural product were applicable), formulated without any CO’2 (global warming chemicals) and contain no VOC (volatile organic chemicals). *Tennis Shop offers recyclable shopping bags and several of the clothing lines carried offer “green” lines made from sustainable materials, often bamboo *Timers on cooed showers *Administrative offices have paper recycling receptacles. *Catering and VIP turndown offers Fiji water. Fiji launched an environmentally sustainable program which includes a commitment to reducing carbon in the atmosphere. *Compact Fluorescent light bulbs are used in most non-dimmable light fixtures *Group Sales offers digital property brochures *Office supplies are ordered from the primary vendor’s Green Book of products that meet the Forest Stewardship Council standards and Energy Star government standards, and are Green Seal, Ecologo, Green e-certified, and Greenguard certified. *Separated trash from recycling bins at both dumpster sites *Contracted outside dry cleaning/laundry company only uses green certified cleaning agents *Direct Mail Postcards are printed on recycled paper *Battery operated lawn mowers, blowers and edgers are used in guest areas. *Meeting Rooms HVAC stats are programmed to shut the system off at night time *South End HVAC system includes heat exchanger that recycles heat emitted in Air Conditioning cooling process to heat the Beach Club swimming pool. *Metasys energy Management System for Guestrooms and Offices on South end HVAC system *Marine Room control system monitored by Metasys and programmed to run only when restaurant is occupied *Recycle tennis balls *Partially using grass trimmings to reduce landscape waste and reduce fertilizer *Contracted Dry Cleaner only uses environmentally friendly laundering products *Restaurant to go tumblers and containers made of biodegradable corn starch as well as utensils made from biodegradable potato starch
