There are 42 properties currently listed in Ottawa. At this time there are 30 "Green" lodging properties listed of which 9 properties have completed the iStayGreen Audit. Minto Suite Hotel has been awarded a 4 Green Eco-Leaf Rating.
To qualify for the Green Eco-Leaf Rating Minto Suite Hotel completed an audit of their property's compliance with over 70 unique eco-initiatives. Environmentally friendly measures that are reviewed include energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, enviromentally safe cleaning, reduction of waste, ongoing maintenance, purchasing habits, plus many other factors. In it's efforts to create a more sustainable travel future and reduce their impact on our environment, Minto Suite Hotel employs 37 eco-initiatives.

Rooms and Common Spaces
•Recycle bins in all suites •Compact fluorescent light bulbs in common areas and suites •Changed exit signs to LED •Low flow toilets and shower heads •Shampoo and soaps in dispensers reduce disposable bottles and waste •Recycled paper pens instead of plastic pens provided in suite •HVAC is on motion sensors to heat/cool room only when occupied •Converted swimming pool to salt water •We only use green products in housekeeping department •Towel and sheet reuse program •Free bikes for our guests to use as a green way to get around the city •We work with our suppliers to reduce shipping and packaging and encourage recycled product - We also hold community events in the summer (outdor movies, to build community awareness and raise money for the David Suzuki Foundation -We participate in Earth Hour by turning off all but emergency lighting and encouring our guests to do the same - We participate in a Spring and Fall clean up of the city.
Meeting Spaces
•Provide china, cutlery and linen service instead of disposable items. •Cream, milk, sugar and condiments served in reusable containers •Provide water in pitchers or bulk coolers only, no bottles •Promote local, organic and vegetarian food and beverage options. •Provide multiple recycle bins for paper, glass, metal & plastic. •Compost food waste in catering •Encourage whiteboard and non-toxic markers over flip charts.
