Eco Green At the Miracle Springs Resort & Spa

Project Planet - We change our Guests’ towels and linens on request, based on the Project Planet program. Guests are given the opportunity to reuse towels or have them replaced. This results in a considerable conservation of water and laundry detergents. Our laundry and other household chemicals meet environmentally healthy standards wherever possible, through our use of ProClean products and services.

Water Quality and Conservation - Our tap water is from the Mission Springs Water District, world renown for its award winning spring water. The MSWD has received first and second place quality awards in international and other competitions. That is the water we serve on request in our restaurants and the water with which we cook. Guests at the Desert Hot Springs Spa have hot mineral water delivered to their rooms and a similar process is in study for the Miracle Springs Resort & Spa.

We use low flow shower heads, proportional toilet flush conservation and have in place the use of pool effluents for irrigation, meaning that every drop of water removed from the aquifers is productively used. Literally, we waste no water.

Energy Saving Light Settings and Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) - We use hundreds of CFLs on our properties, “lights out” wherever possible, air conditioning centrally controlled and related to Guest rooms actually occupied and energy saving light settings in appropriate settings.

Trash Recycle - We segregate and recycle large shipping boxes and containers. And we are in the process of large scale recycling, shredding and segregation of paper products. We reuse the back sides of printed material for temporary notes. Our ongoing recycle research includes the collection of cans and bottles and opportunities for Guests to participate. We recycle computers and other electronic devices through an eWaste program. Ink and Toner cartridges and batteries are recycled and reused. All non-recycled trash is compacted, effecting minimum impact on the environment.

Plastic and Styrofoam - Wherever possible, we substitute biodegradable paper products for plastic and styrofoam. We use glass containers in the restaurant, instead of plastic condiment and sauce cups. Our take out coffec cups are insulated and biodegradable.

Boutique Sales - In large measure, the products offered to Guests in our Spa Boutique are eco friendly. l’Occitane, one of our principal beauty and skin care product lines, is totally committed to naturally pure ingredients in all of its products. That company, as well, supports thousands of African girls who harvest the Karite nut for use in the company’s Shea Butter line. All of its products are braille labeled.

Interstate Hwy 10 Trash Pickup Sponsorship - We are sponsors for trash pick up on a local segment of Interstate Highway 10.

Ongoing Examination of Eco Green Resources - We are eco-green proactive on a daily basis. Our Project Manager has as a principal responsibility the prioritizing of eco-green concepts through to conclusion.

Awards - We have received many awards for hospitality excellence, among them, an award from the Groundwater Guardian Foundation, as a designated Groundwater Guardian Site, renewed by them annually.
