Ryan Slusarzyk - 616-776-6980 Mailing Address: 187 Monroe Avenue Grand Rapids, MI US 49503 Below are some of our Green initiatives: • We are now a certified Green Lodging Hotel – Green Lodging Steward o This helps to increase marketability, lower utility costs, help environment and qualify us for energy efficient products • In the process of working on the requirements for LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance o The intent of this is to certify the operation and maintenance of the building and create a plan for ensuring high performance over time • Recycle the following items: o Cardboard o Cooking grease and oils o Light bulbs o Batteries and transformers o Print Cartridges o Plastic Bottles and Cans o Newspapers, Phone Books and Magazines • We recycle all food waste and organic products and turn it into compost • As of June 2008 we are the largest food waste recycler in downtown Grand Rapids. o We are recycling 4,500 lbs a week or 18,000 lbs a month • In-room magazine, Solace is printed with recycled material • Our cleaning products are Green Seal Certified • We offer a Linen Reuse program • Recycling stations are available in public areas • In August 2009 we held our annual company picnic and we recycled 251 plastic water bottles and we only had two bags of garage. All of the trash, with the exception of two bags, was biodegradable and all went to SPURT. • Green Ambassadors meeting quarterly and educate staff • Daily 5 is used to communicate to all associates • Low-Flow Shower heads and low –flush toilets in guest room and public areas • Kitchen equipment – all energy efficient appliances • Energy efficient lighting installed where possible • Digital thermostats throughout hotel • Work with vendors to purchase local and organic products • Use biodegradable or recyclable “to-go” containers |
