    To qualify for the Green Eco-Leaf Rating Grand Hyatt Seattle completed an audit of their property's compliance with over 70 unique eco-initiatives. Environmentally friendly measures that are reviewed include energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, enviromentally safe cleaning, reduction of waste, ongoing maintenance, purchasing habits, plus many other factors. In it's efforts to create a more sustainable travel future and reduce their impact on our environment, Grand Hyatt Seattle employs 36 eco-initiatives.

    Current projects

    -Recycling - Recycling boxes in all internal offices. -Big recycling dumpsters on the loading dock with guidelines for everybody to use them properly.

    -Food waste -Food waste bin in cafeteria being used daily.

    -Saving costs Engineering is completing installation of meters on water pipes and electricity, to keep track of volume usage and cost saving.

    Mission of the Green Team 1) Facilitate environment education, awareness and engagement across all departments within the hotel 2) Set goals that support Hyatt’s environmental goals and manage to their success 3) Establish a sense of shared responsibility, and shared opportunity, across departments within the hotel 4) Provide employees with a platform to share ideas about how they can make a difference in their departments and in their own home

    - To improve out performance, Green Team will track the numbers and ensure all employees are aware of the money saved and opportunities to save more.

    More ideas that are in the process of discussion and to be implemented in the near future, such as:

    - Take a look at boxed lunches and see how we can cut down on trash, or utilize recycled products. - Pads and Pens for meeting rooms will be placed at entrance for anyone who needs them as opposed to individually - Eliminate Cardboard Coffee Cups - Utilize inexpensive Hyatt Logo products - Investigate In-Room TV Capabilities - Revisit existing practices and come up with best practices handed out to cut down on amount used.
