The Banff Park Lodge just finished another quarterly waste audit in December 2008. Four waste audits are conducted each year by our staff. The 2008 results are showing that the hotel recycles up to 72% of the waste generated in the hotel. With the re-start of the town’s composting program in early 2009 we expect to see those numbers increase significantly in the coming waste audits.
The Banff Park Lodge is continuing to help the environment by installing a brand new roof in June 2008 made of 95 % recycled materials including post-industrial plastics and crumb rubber tires.
In Fodor's Green Travel, a new guide of the world's top 100 eco-friendly hotels, the Banff Park Lodge is listed as "one of the first hotels to introduce a thorough environmental management system.” Beside the Banff Park Lodge, the Green Travel Guide only list one other property in Canada.
