To qualify for the Green Eco-Leaf Rating Costanoa Coastal Lodge and Camp completed an audit of their property's compliance with over 70 unique eco-initiatives. Environmentally friendly measures that are reviewed include energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, enviromentally safe cleaning, reduction of waste, ongoing maintenance, purchasing habits, plus many other factors. In it's efforts to create a more sustainable travel future and reduce their impact on our environment, Costanoa Coastal Lodge and Camp employs 38 eco-initiatives.

-Organic Fair trade coffee in the rooms -In room Organic biodegradable shampoos/conditioners/soaps/lotions from EO, a company within a 75 mile radius -Switched from chemical based laundry and housekeeping cleaners to essential oil based cleaners and laundry (Vaska products) -Reclaimed water system -Recycling bins throughout the property and in room -Recycled paper Business cards, fliers, maps, envelopes, conference paper pads and collateral -Recycled tire pens in room -Recycled copy paper in offices -Many organic and local produce and food offerings in the restaurant -Many organic, local, recycled, biodegradable products offered in the retail store -Recycle grease in the kitchen for biodiesel fuel -Composting in the restaurant for veggie garden. What isn’t used is given to neighbor’s pigs -Ceramic mugs available for employee use -Bulk water dispensers for employees -Organic Fair trade coffees and teas served in the restaurant and retail -Organic flower and vegetable garden to produce flowers and veggies for décor and restaurant use -Carafes for all rooms for water use instead of plastic bottles -Bulk water dispensers on all floors of the lodge -A designated “Green Room” with Organic cotton lines and towels, bulk shampoo/conditioner/bodywash in shower, bulk water dispenser in room eco friendly lightbulbs, with plans for more Green Rooms in 2009 -Working on getting our Green certification in the Lodge and Restaurant and entire property -Looking into solar lighting
