Environmentally friendly measures that are reviewed include energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, enviromentally safe cleaning, reduction of waste, ongoing maintenance, purchasing habits, plus many other factors. In it's efforts to create a more sustainable travel future and reduce their impact on our environment, Marco Island Lakeside Inn employs 18 eco-initiatives.

Although we have a lot of local native plants , such as Palm trees, etc, that make our property appear lush- we do no watering at all. We let nature water everything in the rainy season and leave it alone in the dry season. What doesnt survive wasnt meant to be here.

As a matter of course, we change sheets only after every 3 nights a guest stay with us and we replace only the towels that the guest puts in our wicker baskets and leaves outside their room. If they leave none- we replace none. Signs in the guestrooms and Welcome Book explain this.

We do not have the opportunity to re-use gray water at this point due to the city not having the water lines run yet nor the capability of handling this water in the treatment plant for our part of the island.

We do not operate the restaurant, so have no control over their green initiatives.
