Environmentally friendly measures that are reviewed include energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, enviromentally safe cleaning, reduction of waste, ongoing maintenance, purchasing habits, plus many other factors. In it's efforts to create a more sustainable travel future and reduce their impact on our environment, The Waterside Inn employs 31 eco-initiatives.

The Waterside Inn has earned a 3 Green Key rating from the Hotel Association of Canada program. In addition to the items listed in this self audit, here are some additional examples. Kitchen grease removal/recycle program. A major re-lamp program at hotel. Use suppliers and products that are more local and eco friendly use in nature. Working on an Ontario Ministry of Environment waste audit initiative due by Dec 1st, 2010 showing what our program is, how it is monitored and provides ways to improve. Improved recycle program from our key supplier, Wasteco, to remove all items of value that can be recycled and reused.
