To qualify for the Green Eco-Leaf Rating Pokolodi Lodge completed an audit of their property's compliance with over 70 unique eco-initiatives. Environmentally friendly measures that are reviewed include energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, enviromentally safe cleaning, reduction of waste, ongoing maintenance, purchasing habits, plus many other factors. In it's efforts to create a more sustainable travel future and reduce their impact on our environment, Pokolodi Lodge employs 22 eco-initiatives.

The Pokolodi Lodge began its green initiative over 5 years ago when we began phasing out all of the incandescent bulbs and replacing them with energy efficient compact flourescent bulbs. This overhaul was followed by replacing any styrofoam used in the breakfast area with compostable plates, bowls and cups made from corn. Additionally, signage was added to each guest room urging guests to reuse towels and linens whenever possible to help conserve water and limit the use of detergents and chemicals in the laundering process. In addition to these measures all cleaning products were replaced with earth friendly products whenever possible. These efforts have been supplimented with the implementation of an office managed recycling program that covers all paper, newspaper, plastics, glass and aluminum.
