To qualify for the Green Eco-Leaf Rating The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge completed an audit of their property's compliance with over 70 unique eco-initiatives. Environmentally friendly measures that are reviewed include energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, enviromentally safe cleaning, reduction of waste, ongoing maintenance, purchasing habits, plus many other factors. In it's efforts to create a more sustainable travel future and reduce their impact on our environment, The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge employs 36 eco-initiatives.

The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge & Jasper National Park Environmental Stewardship Program These two organizations have a formal five-year commitment to develop operational and management practices, which emphasizes ecological integrity and programs that are consistent within the management of Jasper National Park.
Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary In 2007 The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course received its re-certification as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, an industry-leading environmental management strategy for sustainable habitat in recreational areas. This initiative minimizes pesticide use, protects water and enhances habitat, the golf course has been a member since 2001.
FireSmart – ForestWise The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge has joined the FireSmart-ForestWise initiative in conjunction with Jasper National Park to restore the local forest to a healthy habitat and to reduce the risk of wildfires. This two-year project includes the restoration of designated parcels of forest within the resort’s leasehold.
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course Wildlife Corridor - In 2001, The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge and Jasper National Park began a cooperative program to introduce a year-round wildlife corridor to ensure the movement of all species of wildlife through the Athabasca Valley. Since its implementation there has been improved wildlife movement and a healthy growth of wolves and other species in the area.
Waste Diversion The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge has extensive programs to divert landfill waste. This includes the sorting and disposing of organic waste, cardboard, paper, plastic bottles, tin, glass, batteries and industrial waste in alternative ways. In 2008, The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge was recognized as a community leader for its organic waste diversion. The Resort also donates appropriate food to local children’s programs, and gently used items to local shelters.
Hotel Association of Canada Four- Key Green Eco-Rating In 2007, the Hotel Association of Canada awarded The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge with a Four Green Key Rating. This rating is awarded to a hotel that has shown national industry leadership and commitment to protecting the environment through wide-ranging policies and practices, which have shown substantial and measurable results.
