This not a hotel, but a old motel. The room was small and the carpting was very stained. There isn't really an ocean view. It was more of a harbor view. This was a huge disappointment. Very over priced! No way close to a 4 star hotel.

Off-season; plenty of room vacancies; made reservation a month ahead, but given small, dirty room next to noisy maintenance room. Looked at 2 others; all had carpet stains. Chose third room; even with carpet stains & leaking toilet tank, was best of the three. No door on dressing room; grungy bathroom; no "graciousness" of usual boutique hotel rooms; felt like a cheap motel. We have traveled the world for 50 years, student level to first class, but this was a big disappointment. Best I can say is the bellman was helpful and cheerful in showing all the rooms. Not worth the room price.

Being that it was Memorial weekend and we did have an ocean view room, I did expect to pay a little more...however, we should have gotten much more! The beds were so uncomfortable and you can hear everything through the walls! Also, some basic necessities in the room were lacking although the staff was helpful in acquiring some things. No night housekeeping available! Free continental breakfast was nice and enjoyable. Loved the location and the staff but that's about it...not a good value.

The room was so TINY, we thought we were in a MOTEL, not a "boutique hotel".Checkout time is 11AM (unpublished). We were charged $60 extra on a $200 room for 1.5hr late checkout, with the staff aware that we had arrived to the hotel at midnight the night before!!!! Stay at a 'name' hotel in Santa Barbara.Spend your money more wisely than we did. We are seasoned international travelers. We recommend saving the "boutique hotels" for the cities that do them well, like NY, LA, and Miami. I caution you, do not be duped by the Hotel Oceana.

I looked at this hotels' website which looked great. Unfortunately to my dimay when I arrived quickly found was nothing more than a glorified motel. The staff was rude, the room was small and smelled of mold. The towels were falling apart, the walls were paper thin and the room service made me sick (literally.) I complained about the room service food and it was not comp'ed like most 'hotels' would do. I received a blank stare from the desk staff. Believe the other reviews. Don't waste your money and move onto a motel for less money.

This hotel is fraudulent! Will try to charge you for a premium room for something less, and then try to act like giving you a deal. Service is terrible, buyer beware!

I had booked ocean view rooms weeks before our visit. On arrival they tried to pass off a cheaper poolside room, when I called the desk to complain, they "gave me a cheaper rate"-which turned out to be the actual room rate. The manager said they would "try to accomidate my request" the next day, but were unable to do so when smaller hotels on either side had similar rooms available. They seemed to care little about guest security-the gate lock was not working and to get to they front desk you either had to walk on the street or the alley. Staff didn't seem to know what they were doing.

After much research, I chose Oceana for location and amenities. As a pregnant woman traveling alone I wanted a safe hotel close to the harbor. Staff and housekeeping were very pleasant/accommodated all my requests. No A/C was needed as ocean breeze was adequate. Rooms aren't huge, but shower was clean/pressure good and decor cheerful. Location is superb-could walk to all the restaurants/shops/wharf/harbor. Recommend heartier continental breakfast. Planning a return visit later in the year w/my hubbie & highly recommend.
